All Night Long is the after prom party to surpass all after prom parties. Since 1986, All Night Long has been a drug and alcohol free alternative on prom night. The party begins at 12:00 AM as students arrive from Albemarle, Charlottesville, Monticello and Western Albemarle with their hands stamped from their proms. Doors close at 1:30 AM. Students may leave at any time during the night, but may not return. In the past, up to 1000 students have enjoyed the festivities that go on, All Night Long...

March 16, 2009 – Charlottesville, VA - All Night Long the annual Alcohol/Drug Free
after Prom party that began in 1986 will not be held this year. The Prom date of April 18,
2009 set by the Charlottesville and Albemarle School systems is in conflict with the Dave
Matthews Band performance at the John Paul Jones Arena. For this reason, it is proving
very difficult to find a venue for the after prom party that is suitable. ANL Board of
Directors communicated with each of the four High School Principals in an attempt to
change the prom date to the traditional date of Memorial Day Weekend, this effort to
secure the more favorable date was unsuccessful.
All Night Long exists as a means to save the lives of our communities’ youth on their
Prom Night. We are proud to boast that no alcohol/drug related accidents have occurred
on Prom Night in our 26 year history. The party was created by concerned parents who
were the primary support both financially and volunteering the night of the party. Over
the years parental support for the event has steadily declined. During the 2008 party only
two (2) monetary donations from parents were received and very few parent volunteers
worked during All Night Long. As a volunteer run non-profit organization we rely on
parents and the community for both finances and the many man hours of planning and
volunteering the night of the party to keep our teens safe.
Without appropriate venue, security and support the All Night Long Board of Directors
must decide not hold this years’ party and ask for community reaction. The Board would
love to see enough interest develop that a community meeting can be held for discussion
and to help determine the future of All Night Long 2010.
